“In the pre-dawn light of spring, I was contemplating the velvety look of the dew laden native grasses and the beautiful candles of new growth on the ponderosa pines. It was a very still morning and I was totally engrossed in matching nature’s stillness and absorbing the moment. Just then, I saw movement in my peripheral vision. I was rewarded with this promising, handsome bull in velvet walking right out in front of me only 30 yards away. All I can say is, God is good! This handsome bull never knew I was there. As he walked in to the dewy velvet grasses and turned to look back, the painting I knew I had to do, named itself right then and there. As long as I live, I will never forget that “Velvet Morning”.
